OIKOS X SUPERBOWL X JUNO X MYLES GARRETT

How do you put a 6’4” 271lbs man on the shoulders of a 5’2” petite woman? Luckily, that wasn’t a problem I had to solve—but I did get to witness a legend at work.  Wayne McClammy worked his magic to bring this to life practically, and I had a front-row seat. Add the pressure of creating this for a Super Bowl spot in an active airport with talent who had just met for the first time. This was a reunion for the crew; we worked together on last year's Oikos Super Bowl spot with Shannon Sharpe + Martin Lawerance; it’s always great when a client trusts and brings back a team to continue executing their vision.

For this campaign, my role was to capture portraits of the talent, step in between motion shots, and grab alongside motion angles when it made sense. That’s pretty much become the standard whenever celebrity talent is involved. Midway through the shoot, the client pulled me aside and asked me to create a short social piece with the talent—on top of shooting stills. Last-minute asks like this are part of the game, but this one was especially exciting. Motion work is something I’ve been leaning into more and more, so this was the perfect challenge. Check out the Grip Strength Challenge I shot—I’ll let you guess whether I managed to beat Myles.

And of course, I’ve included the final Super Bowl spot that Wayne directed so you can see the magic in motion.
